DOYLES can repair and remanufacture virtually any blowout preventor, valve, or choke manifold.

All testing, inspections, welding, and machining are performed in-house or by approved third-party vendors. In addition, all repairs are performed according to API specifications and all welding, machining, and NDE is performed by a trained staff member or by an approved third-party vendor of the customer’s choice. Document packages are also provided on request and include inspection reports, NDE reports and test charts, as well as MTR’s when applicable.

Blowout Preventer (BOP) Repair Process

DOYLES has extensive experience and capabilities in the repair and servicing of blowout preventers (BOPs). We use a proven methodology that adheres to inspection criteria that satisfy ISO9001:2000 and API 16A specifications.

Receiving

• Receive blowout preventer into Houston facility.
• Perform a preliminary inspection to check for possible damages as result of BOP transit.
• Systematically inspect and photograph the unit(s) as part of documentation requirements.
• Create and issue work orders.

Tear Down

• Dismantle BOP while noting any problem areas.
• Perform a tear down and segregate any obviously defective parts.
• Document all work in accordance with DVI standard operating procedures.

Cleaning

• Clean and sandblast prior to performing a complete inspection.

Inspection

• Conduct a visual and dimensional inspection of all parts in accordance with DVI inspection procedures.
• Perform a non-destructive examination on critical areas.
• Perform non-destructive testing and evaluation of components subject to normal wear and/or stress.

Estimate

• Create a formal estimate of repair cost and anticipated delivery.
• Secure customer approval of estimate.

Repair

Repair or replace parts deemed to exceed reusable limits, which may involve the following processes:

• Skim cut/pre-machine
• Material rebuild, including welding, chrome plating, metal spray
• Buff & Polish
• Stress Relieve
• Hardness Test

Final Assembly

• Perform final assembly of the repaired BOP
• Notify customer; secure 3rd party test witness if requested

Test

• Ensure that all repaired equipment conforms to ISO9001:2000 and API 16A-based test criteria

Delivery

• Construct document package
• Notify customer
• Deliver BOP per customer specifications
